Fly Fishing
One of the Catskills' greatest claims to fame is its outstanding fly fishing. With an endless supply of lakes, reservoirs, ponds, rivers, streams, and creeks in which to cast a line, it's no wonder fly fishing has a rich history among this beautiful landscape. Green Acres Retreat is located along the West Delaware River. Hook everything from Shad and Smallmouth Bass on the East Branch, to Wild Brown and Rainbow Trout on the West Branch. Challenge your wading and casting skills in the ever-changing main stem of the Upper Delaware, home to some of the area's biggest catches.

Hunting
There is NO hunting permitted on Green Acres Retreat.
However, people can hunt a range of animals from game to birds at a variety of sites nearby. Before picking up a firearm and purchasing a hunting license, it's important to review all the laws and regulations for hunting in New York State. Please observe all New York State laws while hunting. Visit the Department of Environmental Health for more details.

Adam Hill Hunting Adventures - experience guided hunting tours. They are a family-owned hunting operation that specializes in providing professionally guided hunts since 1988. They offer a variety of exciting hunting experiences at the base of the Catskills.
Snow Skiing
The rolling hillsides surrounding Hancock provide premium cross-country skiing terrain, and nearby Elk Mountain offers scenic and challenging downhill skiing.
French Woods - just 15 miles away
French Woods property up Route 97 is a cross-country skier’s paradise! If you’re longing to get away to a winter wonderland for a while, this is the place!
Elk Mountian Ski Resort - less than 30 miles away
Located in the beautiful Endless Mountains, it has been named the Best Overall Mountain in the Mid-Atlantic Region. With 180 skiable acres and 27 trails, skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will feel right at home on the mountain.
Hiking and Biking
Green Acres Retreat is located on 66 acres of pristine Catskill woodlands. You can hike all over the various trails without ever even leaving the property! Explore the forest, discover one of the numerous creeks, just use caution around our wildlife!
Within an hours drive of the hotel are three different trail heads you can visit with waterfalls along the hike.
Bouchoux Trailhead (Jensen's Ledges) East Branch Hiking Trail Tompkins Falls
Just 20 miles down the road on the border of New York and Pennsylvania is the D&H Rail Trail. The 38-mile D&H Rail-Trail traces the former corridor of the Delaware & Hudson Railway, a line that primarily carried anthracite coal out of the Lackawanna Valley in the second half of the 19th century. The D&H Railway corridor’s early claim to fame: it was on its predecessor—the D&H Gravity Line—that the first steam locomotive in America, the Stourbridge Lion, made its one and only run in August 1829.

The Covered Bridges Tour
There are 13 covered bridges of varying historic significance in New York’s Delaware County. Two of those covered bridges can be found in the town of Hancock, but there are adventures to be found around every bend of this scenic area. Check out this article for more details.
